The World Water Valley takes water as the core element to construct a synergetic innovation platform of "government departments, industries, the academia, and the financing and cultural circle". The “World Water Valley” Forum is an annual academic conference organized by Hohai University. It is an activity for communicating and sharing experiences among scholars, government officers and all colleagues. The present forum will focus on issues including water education, water science, water economy, water culture, the Belt and Road Initiative, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, overseas China, innovation and entrepreneurship, firm cross-border operation, et al. This activity aims at opening up a new pattern with multi-subjects, multi-levels and multi-forms exchanges and cooperation.
Cooperation of water resources is the priority area of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Promoting cooperation of water resources is the foundation of the community of shared future of Lancang-Mekong river region, the strategic development direction of building the economic corridor of China and Indo-China Peninsula, as well as the common goal to share the benefits of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. The “World Water Valley” will take a solid step of cross-border synergy by holding the 4th forum in Vientiane of Laos as a further response to the strategic opportunity of Laos from a land-locked country to a land-link country, and the demand of becoming the battery in Southeast Asia.
